On Friday, the UW Milwaukee athletic department announced that Junior Austin Arians  will redshirt the 2014/2015 basketball season.
The third-year forward from Stoughton, Wisconsin has been sidelined since before the season with a high ankle sprain. Normally ankle sprains take about 6 to 8 weeks to heal, but the coaching staff felt that it was better to let him sit out the entire season to recover enough for the 2015–2016 season.
“We support Austin’s decision to redshirt the 2014–15 season and look forward to having him back on the court competing again next season,” says coach Rob Jeter.
Arians is one of the Panthers key offensive players as their three point specialist. In 2013-2014, Arians shot 36 percent from three point range, the best on the team.
When he returns next season, Arians will have two years of full eligibility left.
