Milwaukee named sixth city to revive urban economies by White House
Mayor Tom Barrett announced Milwaukee’s designation to join the Urban Entrepreneur Partnership earlier this month.
The project, launched by President George W. Bush two years ago, coaches and mentors minority entrepreneurs and acts as a coordination agency to synchronize the work of existing economic resources in each city.
The other five cities that have piloted Urban Entrepreneur Partnership centers are Atlanta; Cincinnati; Cleveland; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Kansas City, Mo. Milwaukee’s center opens in April and will be housed in the Urban League’s new headquarters on North Avenue.
