Sabrina Nettles, 20 “Everybody always makes them out to be the bad guy. I don’t think it’s right because most people don’t know anything about them.”

Megan Hamilton, 27, said when she first hears “Arab American,” she thinks “wealthy” and “smart.”

She said she learned in sociology that Arab Americans may have difficulties using their degrees from their home country because of discrepancies in requirements.

Bill Chetney, 23, said the term Arab American makes him think of Islam, although he does not know much about it. He joked that it makes him think of gas stations. He has a few Arab friends.

Sarah Kissinger, 25 “I try to discern what is propaganda and what is a true representation of Arab culture.”

Although she has Arab friends, she said she doesn’t really discuss their culture with them.

“I don’t really look at them as my Arab friends, they are just my friends.”
