The biggest advantage Thompson has to win the Republican nomination is the fact that theres no real dominated Republican frontrunner.

Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson has many benefits over other candidates seeking the Republican presidential nomination that would enable him to capture the votes of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students regardless if the student voters are Democratic or Republican.

Thompsons name is well known to many students and as a candidate he will be able to win students over with his interest in education.

The new candidate also has other ideas that are appealing. He supports an improved healthcare system and has one of the most sensible plans for Iraq.

This may, however, not be enough for Thompson to win the Republican nomination he is seeking.

Its been years since the former governors last political campaign: six years since he held an elective office and two years since he served in the Bush cabinet as secretary of Health and Human Services.

He has the experience, but this timeframe has created a gap between older and newer voters. Many newer voters are not as familiar with the former governor and his accomplishments.

Thompson has the ambition to bring forward a successful campaign. He has the public speaking ability to build support with his ideas and many of the candidates ideas are logical.

The former governors call to expand the Milwaukee school choice program is a good idea because it would give a large amount of students, regardless of what neighborhood they live in, a chance to receive higher education without the financial expenses that normally go along with the opportunity.

Thompson is right: the health care system should utilize technology. His statement is correct for questioning the medical industry in the 20th century for still using the old fashioned method of filing information with folders.

Thompson is the only candidate seeking nomination with enough wits to say that we should ask the Iraqis through referendum whether they want Americans to continue to work with them or to leave.

He obviously knows what is best for America.

His ideas may likely be adapted by other candidates if Thompson cannot hold his popularity. After all, these are great ideas. However, he needs to promote them in more than just Wisconsin and Iowa to maintain popularity.

Without a strong promotion package to support his bid, Thompson faces a challenge to retain his popularity across the nation. This will be hard for the former Wisconsin governor to do with a low budget.

Money in political campaigns holds a strong power because it enables a candidate to promote their campaign.

The candidate that has the biggest budget holds all the power. He or she is able to pay for commercials, rallies and tours. These are important tools that candidates use to promote themselves across the nation as a reputable candidate.

Lack of money, such as in Thompsons case, could allow other candidates with higher budgets to succeed. This may open the opportunity for other contenders seeking the nomination to use Thompsons successful ideas as a platform when they are past the nomination.

Despite Thompsons lack of money, this Republican would make a great president. He has notable experience in politics serving as governor of Wisconsin for nearly 14 years until he left office when he was appointed as the secretary of Health and Human Services.

The highlights of Thompsons time as the governor of Wisconsin were successes. This ensures that he would be a more than adequate leader for the United States. He worked to have the welfare program reformed and adapted the school choice program.

The school choice program was the first of its kind across the nation. It is almost a sure thing that he would work to improve education across the nation if elected as president.

The biggest advantage Thompson has to win the Republican nomination is the fact that theres no real dominated Republican frontrunner.

The biggest names in the race for the nomination are Arizona Sen. John McCain and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. So it is possible for Thompson to maintain his popularity across the nation.

Thompson is a strong believer in the springboard theory. The former state governor believes that if he spreads his popularity to Iowa it will have domino effect winning support across the nation.

Candidates with this theory hope to use their campaign skills to achieve a reputable image that becomes converted into enough momentum and free publicity that it spreads the candidate newly acclaimed image to other states.

Hopefully, for Thompsons sake, he will prove himself right in January when the first round of the nominating contest will be held.
