In addition to work on the step itself, toning exercises for the abs and arms using weights are included to integrate a full body work out.

Have you been dying to start toning those abs of yours and get a nice, firm booty at the same time? Well, it just so happens that Katie Backus, this week’s Green Room fitness instructor can help you to do this.

Katie is a junior this year and majoring in nursing. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, cooking, eating, running, swimming and being outdoors.

On Tuesdays, get ready to tighten up that stomach and butt in Katie’s Butts and Guts class. This 30 minute class incorporates working the butt, abs, legs and back and ends with a nice stretch.

“We do floor work and wall work for your butt, and teach simple, everyday moves that you can even do on your own,” said Katie.

If you love a good aerobic work out, then you should definitely get to Katie’s “Step it up” class on Tuesday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Katie has been teaching this step class with another fitness instructor, Dana for two years, and the two of them make a great team.

Step it up includes a full 30 minutes of cardio on the step. In addition to work on the step itself, toning exercises for the abs and arms using weights are included to integrate a full body workout.

Be sure to try out one or both of Katie’s classes, she can get you well on your way to finally getting down to business and getting that body of yours in shape once and for all.

“It’s a fun atmosphere,” said Katie. “The Green Room is right here and very convenient, the staff is approachable if the residents need help.”

“We’re here for the residents.”
