Zach Wallander is the man

“You can get out of bed, throw on your gym shorts, and take the elevator down to the first floor.” –Zach Wallander, Green Room Fitness Instructor

Looking to wake up in the morning and work your butt until it burns and then continue on with the rest of your day energized and in shape?

If you answered yes, then this week’s fitness instructor, Zach Wallander has the right class for you just a few seconds away from your dorm room.

Zach is a senior this year and is majoring in political science and double minoring in both psychology and history. Some of his hobbies include hunting, fishing, running outside, singing, reading law books, watching the Packers win, and stargazing.

Get your day started right in Zach’s “Morning Burn” class offered on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

“In ‘Morning Burn,’ I teach with Noah, and we do abs and butts until it burns,” said Zach. “We want people to feel good and wake up ready for a new day.”

So, you’re thinking to yourself, I’m not a morning person and I can’t possibly get up that early, well not to worry, Zach also teaches an afternoon class. Now you have no excuse not to take one of his classes.

On Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Zach teaches “Workin It,” an intermediate-level class that focuses on toning, cardio and testing your endurance level overall.

“In ‘Workin' It,’ we work the whole body from arms, abs, butts and legs,” said Zach. “Basically, we start with cardio and get people sweating, and then we tone those areas that the residents want to work on.”

If you’re ready to get your work out on then head down to the Green Room and let Zach motivate you to get in shape. He recommends working out in the Green Room as opposed to the Klotchse Center.

“If you work out in the Green Room you don’t have to walk outside in the cold,” said Zach. “You can get out of bed, throw on your gym shorts, and take the elevator down to the first floor.”

For a positive fitness experience designed with you mind, be sure to check out Zach’s classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

“When we teach classes we work areas of the body that residents want to,” said Zach. “We're also the Green Room, enough said, our staff kicks butt.”
