“I love working in the Green Room because it’s a relaxed environment with great people,” Ian said. “The staff is awesome; everyone is friendly, helpful, open and cooperative.”
Do you want to tighten your abs, but aren’t sure which moves and exercises are right for you? Well, then Ian Reineking, this week’s Green Room fitness instructor, can help you out.
“Residents should work out in the Green Room because it’s a well-equipped facility with a very friendly and helpful staff,” Ian said. “Our wide variety of classes can provide residents with a new workout. It’s a great place to meet new friends and build relationships.”
Ian is a junior this year and is majoring in health care administration and minoring in business. He’s a very athletic guy, as his hobbies include running, rock climbing, snow boarding, wake boarding, golf, ultimate Frisbee and attending concerts.
“I’m a concert junkie,” Ian said. “I love finding that new sound of music that just speaks to you in a different way.”
He’s teaching three classes this semester: “Abs with Ian,” “Totally Tone” and “Knock Out.” Ian really enjoys working in the Green Room with his fellow employees and helping the residents of Sandburg to get in shape.
“I love working in the Green Room because it’s a relaxed environment with great people,” Ian said. “The staff is awesome; everyone is friendly, helpful, open and cooperative.”
You can catch Ian co-teaching his “Knock Out” class with another fitness instructor, Katee, on Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This is a cardio kickboxing class that is designed to get your heart pumping and burn some calories at the same time.
“We generally do cardio kickboxing combinations for 40 minutes. Then we move on to full-body toning using weights or body resistance for the remainder of the class,” Ian said. “It’s a moderate to upper-intensity level class, but the moves are generally very easy for beginners to pick up on.”
On Wednesday nights Ian co-teaches another class with fitness instructor Mike. This one is entitled “Totally Tone.” It meets from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
“Totally Tone” focuses on giving the entire body a good work out through numerous exercises. Ian and Mike also like to change it up every week to make it more interesting and fun for the residents.
“We do everything from slide aerobics, kickboxing, boot camps, circuit training, weight training, body resistance and ab workouts in this class,” Ian said. “We try to do toning for every part of your body in different ways.”
Don’t forget about those abdominals, because Ian has all the right exercises to get them toned in his Thursday “Abs with Ian” class which meets from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
“This is just a full abdominal workout generally using short-circuit training,” Ian said.
For an all-around thorough workout, be sure to stop in and check out some of Ian’s classes. He really knows what he is doing, and more importantly, he enjoys helping others to become physically fit.
“I love my job,” Ian said. “I get to help people every day with one of the most basic and beneficial aspects of our lives, physical fitness.”
