Avyanna Young announced yesterday that she would be transferring to UW-Madison. The 6’1 sophomore forward came on this past season, tying a school record with fifteen double-doubles. Young was third on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game, and lead the team in rebounds with 9.8 per game.

Young was a good post player for the Panthers this season, and played with a lot of passion and intensity.

It is unknown who could take her spot for the 2014-2015 season, but things will change for the Panthers Women’s basketball team. The team is 7-42 over the past two seasons and the team is losing top scorer Angela Rodriguez and three point specialist Emily Decorah to graduation. The loss of Young only further hurts a team that will be looking for at least three new starters.

The Athletic Department could not comment due to NCAA regulations on prospects transferring.
