Midwest native pop/rock/indie band, Hippo Campus with support by The Middle Ground are set to play UW-Milwaukee’s first Homecoming Concert Lineup on Oct. 6 in the Union Ballroom.

Hippo Campus exploded into the music scene with their hit song “Suicide Saturday”, with only about three years as a band under their belts. “Suicide Saturday” was named among the 40 Best Songs of 2015 by Entertainment Weekly. With almost 11,000,000 collective Spotify streams, the band is increasingly gaining popularity across the globe.

The four-man group has developed an impressive resume, playing shows such as Lollapalooza, South by Southwest Festival, sold out concerts across the US and the UK, Red Rocks and a performance on Conan O’Brien’s show. Hippo Campus has also toured with acts such as the Mowgli’s, Walk the Moon, Modest Mouse and JR JR. With their success growing exponentially, this is a show students won’t want to miss.

Hippo Campus is comprised of Jake Luppen, Nathan Stocker, Zach Sutton and Whistler Allen. Their discography includes two EPs entitled ‘Bashful Creatures’ and ‘South.’ Both works include bright and energetic guitar hooks along with compelling lyrics.

The Middle Ground, an alternative pop group rooted in Tennessee, are set to support Hippo Campus in the Homecoming Concert. The group emerged into the Milwaukee music scene in early 2013, with lead singer Joe Neary as a UWM alumni. Members of the band include Joe Neary, Jordan Burmeister, Zach Grusznski and Chris Halbauer. Their sound has been compared to acts such as Young the Giant and Imagine Dragons. The Middle Ground also won the 2014 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) award.

The Homecoming Concert is made possible by CAB and SHAC. All UWM students can pick up their free tickets at the Union Information Desk, with additional guest tickets being sold as well.
