Hosted by the Student Association, any University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student commuter is welcome to join for breakfast in room EG79 in the Union tomorrow. The breakfast will include bacon, muffins, pastries, juice and coffee and will be held from 7:30-10 a.m.

“We want to reach out to student commuters and hear problems they face here at UWM so we can help them,” said Justin Kraemer, the Student Association’s outreach director. “We’re holding this event to learn how to better represent the UWM student body and show we care about their issues.”

The Student Association found through a survey that many commuter students have issues with parking and transit. To address this, the executive board of the Student Association will invite commuter students to talk with members of the parking and transit committee after the breakfast.

“This is the first time were doing anything like this,” said Ryan Sorenson, head of this project. “It’ll be interesting to see how things turn out.”

Kraemer explained that he and the rest of the executive board want to show students that the Student Association is moving forward from past problems. They hope to rebuild trust and a positive image of the SA among students with events like this.

A meeting room now owned by the Student Association will be the hosting place for the breakfast tomorrow. In the future they hope to hold more events like this for the variety of UWM students
