UWM is introducing a new campus festival in celebration of a good school year and seniors graduating. The festival, called Fest of the Fountain, will be on May 4 this year.

The project is a collaboration of the Office of Student Involvement, the Student Association, and the Campus Activities Board.  The groups hope the Fest of the Fountain will become an annual gathering.

“Since the fountain is such an iconic location here on campus and a location that people really associate with…one of the key images of UWM, it signifies spring, we’ve situated that event around the fountain for that particular celebration,” said Rebecca Grassl, Assistant Director of Student Involvement.

Eats & Treats food truck will be providing food such as ice cream, burgers, waffle dogs, nachos, and much more.  UWM restaurant operations will also accommodate for the festival. There also will be a DJ and chances to win prizes

Student organizations around campus will be involved also. One student org, Dance Marathon, will be participating and running a photo booth for all students.  They also want to allow graduates to be able to take pictures in their graduation gowns in front of the fountain.

The Craft Center is hosting an activity where students can decorate flowerpots and then plant seeds in them.

There also be caricatures and yard games that students can participate in.

Grassl says that they are excited for the new event.

“We hope that a lot of students come out and enjoy a nice end of the year celebration,” she said.

There is no fee to attend, but students will be asked to provide a student ID for food and prizes.  The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be rescheduled to May 6 if poor weather interferes.
