A new shuttle system for students traveling between the park and ride, campus and university housing will be implemented in Spring 2016. Larger buses will replace the current mid-size housing shuttles.

One main route called the Prowl Line will stop at the residential halls and park and ride. The Prowl Line consists of four new coach buses — each ADA accessible and decorated with the UW-Milwaukee logo.

The new shuttles feature technology upgrades similar Milwaukee city buses: an ID reader that allows students access to the bus, security cameras, an automated voice announcement for upcoming stops and a real-time bus tracker accessible on the UWM app. Students will also have the ability to text questions or comments about the shuttle system to the dispatcher.

Freshman and regular shuttle user, Will Casperson, is excited about the changes.

“Sometimes the current shuttles fill quicker because they don’t have much seating,” Casperson said. “Hopefully students will be able to get to (and from) campus much faster.”

Director of Parking and Transit, Prasanna Nanda, said that the new shuttle route and Bublr bike-sharing system will allow residential hall students more options to get to campus.
