MEET THE CANDIDATES
Evan Braun is running for Vice-President of Student Affairs. From Sheboygan, WI, he is studying musical theater. Braun served three years as class president during high school and is on three different shared governance boards, including the Board of Trustees. Even though Braun is studying theater, he has an interest in government.
“Arts has played a big role in my life, but helping others elevate to success has played a big role in my life, too,” Braun said.
Ryan Dresden from Charleston, SC is running for President. He is studying economics and accounting. His background in student government is being part of the Board of Trustees this year along with serving a seat on the Greek Life committee. Dresden is running because he wants to help keep the change going in Student Association.
“Government is really important to me and I feel like there is a lot that needs to be fixed in the SA,” Dresden said.
Jachin Moore is running for Vice-President of Student Affairs. From Milwaukee, WI, he is studying information science technology. Moore currently holds a chair on the Campus Activities Board. Moore wants to instill a greater sense of panther pride, but also strengthen academics.
“I really want to focus on campus life and campus events,” Moore said. “I think that research and innovations would be my second goal.”
Ryan Sorenson is running for President. From Sheboygan, WI, he is studying political science and history. Last year Sorenson was a freshman senator. This year, he served as vice-chair of The Board of Trustee’s. Sorenson wants to be sure that there is an experienced leader for the SA next year.
“We are in a big transition right now and I think it is important to have a strong leader to make the constitution work,”Sorenson said.
Ari Stone is running for Vice-President of Academic Affairs. From Kansas City, MI he is studying biochemistry. Stone has been involved in the Board of Trustees for a year and has been working as the Publicity and Marketing Director . Stone really enjoyed helping create the new Student Association constitution this year.
“The SA here seemed to have a great deal of day to day clout and I think the potential to use that in a good way is something I want to help with,” Stone said.
Lavelle Young is running for President. From Milwaukee, WI he is studying finance and accounting. Young currently holds an executive position on the Board of Trustees. Young really wants to push for efficiency and transparency this year.
“When I first became a part [of SA] we were in the transition and I want to push that there is a new SA, versus the past SA,” Young said.
