The Panthers pounced quickly to open play, claiming the doubles point with a victory at each of the three flights. Senior Christina Colarossi and freshman Mardee Merar cruised at the top flight, 6-2, while sophomore Hayley Marshall and senior Chelsea Bailey swept the second flight, 6-0.

“It’s always great to win the first conference match of the season, especially 7-0,” Milwaukee head coach Maddy Soule said. “I think this win will really motivate the team as we head into a pair of tough conference matches next weekend.”

The Panthers continued their dominating play when transitioning into singles. Merar, at the fifth flight, swept her match, winning 6-0, 6-0. At the fourth flight, Colarossi only relinquished one game throughout her match, as did Marshall up at the second flight. The third and sixth flights finished both finished straight sets victories for the Panthers. Only one match went the distance. Bailey was taken to a third set match tiebreaker up at the top flight, losing the first set. She then claimed the second 6-0, before pulling out the breaker 10 points to 7.

With the convincing sweep, Milwaukee improves to (3-9) on the season, with their next two matches in Michigan against Oakland on Saturday afternoon, and against Detroit Sunday evening.
