As a part of Homecoming Week, the UWM Athletics Department opened the Klotsche Center to the public for a free festival. There was food, games, and the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams.

Saturday’s event was hosted by the basketball programs at UWM, and featured an introduction of both the Men’s and Women’s roster for the 2016-2017 season.

“I think today is really about reaching out to the school, the community, and the fans,” said Stephanie Kostowicz, a forward for the Panthers. “Also, getting them to realize that we’re here and we’re a good time.”

Standing by the teams were the head coaches of the basketball programs, Lavall Jordan and Kyle Rechlicz. Coach Jordan, who will begin his first year as head coach of the Panthers’ men’s basketball program this upcoming season, expressed his expectations for the team.

“I want them to listen,” said Jordan. “I want them to play hard and have fun.”

The Klotsche Center was packed with fans eager to participate in multiple sessions, including two Q&A sessions with the head coaches and the players. The players sat around tables ready to answer fan questions and sign autographs.

“Expectations are high for both the men’s and women’s teams,” said guard Jeremiah Bell. “Hopefully, the fans come out and help us win.”

Fans were able to purchase tickets at the fan booth as soon as they walked in. T-shirts were given away for all of those in attendance to show off their Panther pride.
