Today, August 16: Your Saturday looks to be a warm and stormy day as the area has a chance to see multiple rounds of rain throughout the day. This comes as a low pressure system will move in and stall out to the northwest, ushering in temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s and dew points in the low 70s. Multiple long-lasting rain events could be triggered, thanks in part to all the available moisture in the atmosphere. However, there is a lot of uncertainty about when and where this rain will set up, with the best chance for high totals of rain being in the middle of the state. As of now (Friday, Aug. 15th), our area has a slight chance of seeing rain that would cause flash flooding. The best time for rain looks to be tonight into tomorrow morning, with new rainfall totals between an inch and two inches. There is also a marginal risk of severe weather with these storms, with gusty winds, hail, and flooding being the main concerns. Make sure to stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Tonight: Rain will likely be on and off throughout the night. Severe weather isn’t expected, but there could be some locally heavy downpours. Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s and low 70s.

Tomorrow, August 17: The low from yesterday persists for another day, providing another opportunity for some rain. There is also a lot of uncertainty about how much rain, if any, we could see. The opportunity looks lower than yesterday’s, but it’s still something to keep an eye on. The best chance of rain looks to be overnight yet again. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s, with dew points dipping slightly. There is no chance of severe weather as of now, but that could change as we get closer. Stay tuned for updates! Overnight, temperatures will fall into the low 70s.

Extended Forecast, Monday, August 18 – Wednesday, August 20: Our active pattern continues, as there is another chance for showers and storms on Monday. This chance comes throughout the day, but looks better in the morning. Temperatures will be in the low 80s, and dew points will creep back up into the low 70s. Tuesday looks to have another chance of storms, but it looks like the smallest chance out of the last four days. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Wednesday looks to finally calm down a bit as rain chances go down and the heat and humidity break. Highs will be in the mid-70s.
