The Student Film Fest 2026, hosted by UWM students from the Peck School of the Arts (PSOA) film course Zen and the Art of Filmmaking, will take place on May 12 at 7 p.m. in the UWM Arts Lecture Hall.

For 90 minutes, UWM film students will screen a semester’s worth of original short films underneath the theme of “Vampire Mafia.”

“Join us for a night where creativity runs wild, the vampires run the streets, and the mafia has never looked this cool,” UWM student and filmmaker Jonathan Kasten said.

Attendees can expect a night of genre-bending films filled with shadowy deals, bloody drama, and inventive storytelling.

At the screening, there will also be free pizza and drinks, local vendors and a live band performance.

“It’s designed to be as social as it is cinematic. The festival offers a chance to connect with emerging filmmakers, support creative work and experience a fresh take on indie film culture,” Kasten said.

The UWM Arts Lecture Hall is located on campus, next to Mitchell Hall and across from the PSOA Theatre Building.

This event is free and open to the public. Everyone, from students, film lovers and anyone interested, is invited to attend.
