Tri My Best Triathlon, hosted by Kenosha YMCA and Tender Touch Therapy, will happen on Sunday, August 9, at the Kenosha YMCA, 7101 53rd Street. This is the 12th annual adaptive triathlon, where over 80 children and young adults ages five and up will compete.
“Having been part of Tri My Best since its inception 12 years ago, I have had the privilege of watching this event grow into a powerful celebration of inclusion, determination and community. Every year, our athletes remind us that success isn’t defined by speed or competition; it’s defined by courage, perseverance, and the willingness to try,” said Bekki Misanin, 2026 race director.
There will be four courses, which will vary in length to accommodate different abilities. All of the courses will include swimming, biking and running using adaptive equipment. The organizers customize each athlete’s experience according to their needs to ensure everyone achieves their goals.
“Tri My Best has allowed my son to be an athlete, just like any other kid. It provides an
opportunity to see what he is capable of and gives us hope that he’ll be able to accomplish greater things as he gets older. Every year, it opens our eyes to new expectations we should have for him. One of my most proud moments was watching him run down the chute with the biggest smile on his face,” said Jessica Anderson, the mother of a past athlete.

Tender Touch Therapy
One of the event’s hosts, Tender Touch Therapy, is an advocacy agency advocating for neurodivergent/developmental support, well-being and inclusion for kids and families. As part of their mission, they offer therapy and event opportunities for everyone by partnering with local healthcare providers and universities.
“Each athlete participating in this event should feel proud of what they will accomplish this year at the triathlon. These athletes are an inspiration to not only their family, but everyone who participates and contributes to the Tri My Best Triathlon. We are honored to co-host with the Kenosha YMCA and continue this great tradition in Kenosha,” said Linda Niemela, CEO of Tender Touch Therapy.
