Wisconsin Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholars Program applications for the 2026-28 Cohort are due on October 15. UW-Milwaukee students entering the last two years of eligible health professions programs are able to apply for this two-year program.

Scholars in this program are part of a nationally recognized cohort of more than 6,000 students, according to AHEC. The program strengthens academic training through learning and community-based fieldwork in rural or underserved communities.
AHEC says that core topics in the program include interprofessional practice, behavioral health integration, social determinants of health, cultural competence, practice transformation, emerging issues, telehealth and provider well-being.
Participants will receive a stipend, a digital badge and the opportunity to expand their professional networks.
