The Summerfest grounds turned green, and, just a little lucky, Irish Fest made its return back in August. Starting in 1981, a group of folks got together to celebrate Irish roots in an area that is well known for its German background. The idea began when Ed Ward attended a different festival in the area, Festa Italiana, in 1980. From there, the festival grew to become one of the largest celebrations of Irish music and culture.
