Milwaukee PBS and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) are partnering to bring a celebration of America’s rich musical heritage to television with a special broadcast of “America the Beautiful with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra,” premiering Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. on Milwaukee PBS Channel 10.
“We’re proud to partner with the MSO to bring this extraordinary performance to audiences across southeastern Wisconsin,” said Debbie Hamlett, general manager of Milwaukee PBS. “Music brings people together, and this concert celebrates the rich traditions that have shaped our country. Making exceptional local arts and cultural experiences accessible to everyone is central to our mission.”
Recorded May 23 at the Bradley Symphony Center, the concert takes viewers on a musical journey through 250 years of American history and culture. Led by MSO Principal Pops Conductor Byron Stripling, the performance celebrates the diverse sounds that have shaped American music, from spirituals and gospel to ragtime, blues, jazz, R&B and Broadway favorites.
“Milwaukee PBS is a valued partner in bringing the arts to audiences across our region,” said Mark Niehaus, MSO president and executive director. “As our nation’s 250th anniversary year draws to a close, we hope viewers enjoy this celebration of American music, curated by MSO Principal Pops Conductor Byron Stripling and performed by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.”
