On Saturday April 22, musician Caroline Rose brought her unique blend of indie rock and pop to Turner Hall Ball Room in downtown Milwaukee. The night began around 9 p.m. with the opening band Kairos Creature Club. By 9:30 p.m. we were granted access to Rose’s quirky and fun-loving stage presence. I was not sure what to expect, but I experienced an energetic and entertaining show. Safe to say she left the crow in awe– she does not disappoint.
Rose’s performance projects a high-energy experience that leaves the entire audience wanting more. She has a talent for engaging with the crowd, and making everyone feel like they are a part of the show. Between bouncing off stage and making her way around the venue, to a crowd trust fall– Rose really likes to have a moment with her fans. Her infectious power and enthusiasm for performing is evident in every song she sang.
Rose’s presence and style of vocal range mesmerized the crowd throughout the evening. Rose was able to effortlessly transition between highly infectious dance songs and slower, more introspective ballads. She did not shy away from being vulnerable on stage as she expressed her true feelings about being open on her mental health issues. She was adorable, relatable, and honest with her audience. The crowd went wild when she performed her hit “Feel the Way I Want.” Everyone was dancing, and the atmosphere was high.
If Rose’s wide-reaching vocal range and infectious stage presence are an ice cream sundae, the technical aspects of the concert were the cherry on top. The lighting was a colorful compliment to the funky themes found in the lyrics of Rose’s new-age pop songs. There was a sensory overload in the best way possible. Their band curated the entire light show using projections of colors and clips of vhs from Rose’s childhood collection. With colorful lights and visuals accompanying her music, she creates an immersive and unforgettable experience for her fans.
Rose’s concerts are entertaining and full on experience. Rose does an excellent job at really saying what she means. She wants her fans to connect with her. Between the home video recordings, vulnerable lyrics, personable in crowd dancing, and trust falls, her show holds an infectious spirit and stage presence to make for an unforgettable time.
