“Condom Olympics,” is just one of the many events hosted by University Housing during UWM’s annual Sex Week. While it may sound taboo, it gives students the opportunity to learn about safe sex all while having fun and winning fun prizes.
Some of the prizes included a Sex-Week-themed t-shirt and very intimate spicy prizes. Students also had the opportunity to take photos with the Sex Week Mascots “Willy the Wiener” and “Benny.”
The events are sponsored by the Student Housing Administrative Council (SHAC), the Panther Activity Committee (PAC), and Proud Panthers, which are student organizations within University Housing.
Sex Week had a variety of events for students to attend that were both Sex related and non-sex related. Here are some of the top ones:
Myth Busting: Sex and Queer Misconceptions Q&A featuring Proud Panthers:
This event taught students about misconception within the Queer community and also misconceptions about sex. This event happened on Oct. 8 in Sandburg Flicks and had a huge attendance.
Consent, As Sweet As Candy:
Students came to this event to learn about why consent is important within their relationships. The event highlighted societal norms and sexual ideology, emphasizing the importance of people differentiating between yes and no when engaging in sexual intercourse.
Non-Sexy Kahoot:
For students who chose not to participate in Sex Week activities but still wanted to be included, Non-Sexy Kahoot was a main event, hosted by the Panthers Activities Committee. Students were able to win college necessities like Tide-pods and a white board with markers. Some of the Kahoots’ featured for this event were Milwaukee Trivia, Disney Trivia and Halloween Trivia.
Sexy Kahoot:
Unlike non-sexy Kahoot, sexy Kahoot is everything sex related, from the music, all the way down to the prizes. Some of the Kahoots for this event are guessing that sex position and song, guessing that sex toy, and sexual health. In prior years, the sexy Kahoot night has had a huge attendance rate from university housing students. It was exciting to watch students engage in trivia to win some of the fun prizes. Students engaged in the trivia to win fun prizes, and reacted humorously to some of the questions.
Karaoke:
At Karaoke night, students sang a variety of songs, from “My Way” by Frank Sinatra to songs in French. Students were so interactive with the performances that they even began to wave the flashlights on their phones like a scene from a concert.
Drag Bingo:
Drag Bingo was one of the biggest hits of the week. Beautiful Drag Queens helped host SHAC’s annual Drag Bingo event. The event featured performances from “Roxy Toxin” and “Ayesha Voodoo.” Students were extremely interactive with both performances and the bingo match.
