The UWM Delta Sigma Pi Xi Chi chapter will host their second-annual Spring Business Conference Feb. 29 in the basement of Bolton Hall.
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional business fraternity that focuses on professional development, diversity, ethics, service and scholarship, according to their website.
The Spring Business Conference will focus on providing students at UWM and students from other Delta Sigma Pi chapters in the area with opportunities to network with major Milwaukee businesses and develop themselves professionally.
Students will have the chance to hear companies give presentations on different professional topics and learn about those different companies as well, according to Senior Vice President Tyler Junk.
Erin Simmons, the sales development manager for the Milwaukee Bucks, will be the keynote speaker beginning the event. Simmons previously worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers as the senior group events specialist and account executive.
Breakout sessions will feature local businesses, including Northwestern Mutual, Olympus Group, Kimberly Clark, HatchGrad, Novitas Solutions and Direct Supply, according to Vice President of Professional Activities Alissa Falkenthal.
“Since it is right after the [UWM] career fair, it gives some students the opportunity to make another impression with the companies,” Vice President of Scholarship and Awards Ta’Quan Campbell said.
There will be a raffle as well at the event, and proceeds will support the Ronald McDonald House.
“It is a great opportunity for students to get out of their comfort zone, meet some new students, meet some new recruiters, and just make those connections that you don’t always get the opportunity to make,” President Aaron Flierl explained.
The event costs $6.50 to attend. Participants can pre-register online or register the day of the event beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 29. The event will end around 3 p.m.
