UW-Milwaukee announced the resignation of their Campus Police Chief Joseph LeMire via press release on Tuesday. LeMire, who has been chief of Campus Police since 2015, has accepted a position as the chief of Campus Safety and Police at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. LeMire’s last day at UWM is March 12, 2021.
UWM Police Lt. Brian Switala will serve as interim chief of the UWM Police Department while the university conducts a nationwide search for LeMire’s replacement, conducted by the UWM Police Advisory Committee. Lt. Switala has been employed with the UWM Police Department since 2000.
