Jorey Buwalda intends to enter the transfer portal, as first reported by Talia Goodman on Tuesday, March 24.
Buwalda was the heartbeat of the Milwaukee Panthers for the entire 2025-26 campaign, being the only Panther to make an all conference team, featuring on the Horizon All-League Third Team.
The six-foot Junior led the team with 12.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from the field, 25 percent from three and 78 percent from the free throw line last season.
Milwaukee has now lost its top two scorers from a year ago, with Grace Lomen (10.7 ppg) graduating.
The Panthers main struggles in 2025-26 came at the offensive end. The loss of Lomen and now Buwalda will add to their desperation on the offensive side of the ball.
Milwaukee Career
The forward from Randolph, WI played her first three years in a Panther uniform. She had a quality freshman year where she averaged 7.7 ppg and 5.5 rpg, good enough for three Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors and a spot on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team.
Her numbers slightly dipped the following season where she averaged 7.5 ppg and 4.9 rpg.
She hit double-figures in points on 23 of her 31 appearances during her Junior campaign.
The transfer is a big blow to Milwaukee’s prospects going forward, as they have spent the past two seasons near the bottom of the Horizon League. Losing their player who had the most gravity on the court is a big blow to the program, and will leave them in need of more quality in the front court.
