A male was assaulted by two other men near the 2900 block of Prospect Avenue, according to an email sent out to the university by Chief Joseph Lemire on Wednesday night.
The “strong armed robbery” took place near UW-Milwaukee’s campus on Dec. 7, 2016, on Prospect Avenue near 8:00 p.m.
The victim stated that the two men stole his wallet and backpack, then proceed to flee the scene in in a dark colored Saturan.
The university is urging students to call their tip line at 414-935-7360 if they know any information about this incident.
Students were alerted to the incident by text message and by email around 9:00 p.m. The text message alerted students to the crime and directed them to the email to learn more information about the incident.
The UWM Police Department encourages students to stay safe and to beware of their surroundings at all times. Students can use the emergency phone poles while on campus if they feel that they are threatened or see something suspicious. Students can also call the UWM Police Department’s non-emergency line at 414-229-4627, 24 hours a day.
