Every Friday night from Sept. 9 through Oct.14, the Manfred Olson Planetarium in the Physics Building on campus hosts “Nightmares in the Sky.” The Spooky Show is from 7:00 p.m. – 7:55 p.m. and the Very Spooky Show is from 8:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. which is geared for people ages sixteen and up. These shows are hosted by the director of the Planetarium, Jean Creighton. It is $4.00 to attend.
The shows give a history of some of the constellations, specifically the ones portrayed as monsters, such as Medusa, Pegasus and Hydra, and then proceeds to show you where they can be found in the sky. When doing that, they start out showing what the stars look like here in Milwaukee, then they show what it looks like in the country without light pollution. The difference is astonishing!
