The 12th Annual Panther Prowl kicked off Saturday morning of Oct. 8, 2016 with about 1,500 people in attendance. The Panther Prowl had students, staff and the neighbors of UWM running or walking the 5K race individually or as a team.
The start and finish line was located on Hartford Ave. between Enderis Hall and the Golda Meir Library. The racers headed towards Lake Park by way of Maryland Ave. and Kenwood Ave. Once in the park they looped through it. The last stretch was once again on Kenwood to cross the finish line on Hartford.
“It was a well done run, walk or run. You didn’t feel judged and the event was accepting towards all ages. I would do it again,” said freshman participant Katie Bosovich, Class of 2020.
The volunteers that were helping with the event were the athletes of UWM, out cheering and supporting the racers. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Police department helped block off traffic to keep the participants safe. The Panther Prowl is hosted by the UWM Alumni Association, the money raised through this event will be distributed to students in the form of scholarships.
