My name is Tyler Krueger, and I am an admitted cynic. My hobbies include grumbling about how the world is in a downward spiral and showing general disapproval of flowery things. I don’t listen to popular music, I don’t follow trends and I sure as hell don’t watch MTV.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not a somber jerk. I laugh and smile daily, and I can make people laugh as well. I enjoy social interaction.
I’m from Appleton, Wisconsin, and if you don’t know where that is, you’re right. It’s a small suburban town south of Green Bay. It’s a great city and I love it, but it doesn’t provide much for the curious mind. Being raised in white suburbia does not give you a unique perspective.
What does give you a unique perspective is being a left-hander in a right-hander world. What does give you a unique perspective is growing up in a white picket fence community in a not-so-white-picket-fence home. What does give you a unique perspective is having every George Carlin performance memorized by the time you hit 7th grade.
I like to consider myself a little bit of everything. I like to be a bookworm and I also love rough sports. I like a shirt and tie, and I love my DC clothing. I don’t agree with fighting and war, but I don’t agree that it should be avoided at all costs.
I’m sure that this is a very common view, but not many turn it into a hobby. Few are so preoccupied with changing the common view as the world we live in changes with it. I think being a member of this group gives me a unique perspective on the world.
So that’s what I plan to write to you about. I hope to provide thought-provoking articles about life’s interesting topics for you to read and enjoy.
