Nestled on a quiet block in Milwaukee’s Riverwest Neighborhood, Seven Swans Crêperie serves up hearty sweet and savory crepe options and a variety of seasonal coffee drinks for brunchers across the city.
The restaurant, which opened quietly back in May, replaced Dino’s, a casual bar and restaurant that had closed in the summer of 2022. The space has completely reformed. What was once a dark and masculine bar and dining area is now a bright, inviting and cozy, an apt environment for their new services and clientele.
There are four distinct areas in the restaurant. When you enter, you are immediately met with a bar and a small seating area. You order your food at the end of the bar and are given a number to put on your table for food delivery. You can choose to sit and eat at the bar, though few have in the times I’ve visited. There’s a separate dining area and a big, dog-friendly patio in the back.
On Saturday, a friend and I went to Seven Swans for brunch. Their menu had changed since the last time I visited over the summer. The new fall menu included some heartier options with seasonal produce. I ordered the vegan savory crepe with roasted root veggies (sweet potato, onion, carrot) and a vegan cashew creme.
My friend ordered a sweet option, a lemon curd crepe with powdered sugar. They even had a “Twin Peaks”-themed coffee menu– I ordered the “damn fine cup of coffee,” a refillable cup of Oddly drip coffee. The sweet and savory options worked well together, and when we decided to split each plate, we each ended up with a balanced and filling meal.
Seven Swans offers visitors an elevated experience that is still comfortable and casual. There aren’t a ton of breakfast options in the neighborhood, so having a bright and cheerful space for a delicious meal and coffee is a big win for Riverwesters.
