iHeart Media and the Milwaukee Athletic Department have once again joined forces for the upcoming 2016-17 men’s and women’s basketball seasons.
A new partnership has formed between the two teams, once again having all games available on an over-the-air broadcast. The men’s basketball team returns to WISN 1130 AM and the women’s team returns to The Big 920 AM.
“We are very happy to announce a continued partnership with iHeart Media,” Milwaukee Director of Athletics Amanda Braun said. “We have developed a great working relationship with them over the years and look forward to a successful 2016-17 season for both the men and women’s programs.”
All contests — both men’s and women’s — will feature coach’s shows featuring LaVall Jordan and Kyle Rechlicz.
In terms of play-by-play, there will be new faces for each team. Former Milwaukee women’s basketball announcer Scott Warras will be making his debut this year for the men’s basketball team while Matt Menzl will begin for the women’s action. Menzl has spent the past six years as the voice of the Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team.
Menzl has also completed work with ESPN3 for UW-Milwaukee broadcasts going back to the start of the Horizon League Network in 2007. His coverage included men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball and baseball. He also has spent time with Time Warner Cable SportsChannel high school sports coverage, NCAA Championships for WebStream productions (track & field, hockey, volleyball, softball), WIAA high school soccer state championships and has been the voice of the Northwoods League affiliate Lakeshore Chinooks since their inception in 2012.
