Hockey
This past weekend, UWM Hockey was in action, playing two games against Wheaton College on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers won both games 5-2 and 7-2.
The star player in the Panther’s sweep over Wheaton was goaltender Lee Wickert. Wickert made 28 stops on Friday, with another 31 on Saturday.
Leading the scoring for UWM on Friday was Alex Shauff with a pair of goals and two assists. Rich Trebor, Michael Oberauf and Michael McDonald each contributed a single tally with McDonald adding a pair of assists.Captain Jon Willets had three assists on the night with single assists from Oberauf and defenseman Jame Hetland.
On Saturday, Trebor tallied two more goals and contributed two assists while Willets also added a pair of goals. Nate Harmone found his scoring touch for a goal and an assist with single goals also going to Bernie Johnson and Luke Lalor who also had two assists. Shauff added two more assists as did both his linemates, Oberauf and McDonald.
Coach Robertson was particularly pleased with the consistency with which the team implemented the game plan
“The lads played two complete games for the first time this season working at a high tempo throughout the full 60 minutes. Their work ethic was rewarded with two solid wins.”
Next up for the 4-2 Panthers is UW Superior this coming weekend. They’re in action at Eble Ice Arena in Brookfield on
Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 8:15.
