Just a month ago, BJ Freeman fell one win short of bringing the Panthers to NCAA’s promised land. Now he’s headed to the desert, announcing his transfer to Arizona State.

The 6-foot-6 junior earned selections to the Horizon League’s second team and the Horizon League All-Tournament Team. His 103 points in the 2024 tournament stands as the league’s all-time best mark, which featured a 32-point performance at Green Bay and 27-point game in the conference semifinals against Northern Kentucky.

He also departs as Milwaukee’s all-time leader in points per game (19.5) and player efficiency rating (21.0). His 21.1 point-per-game average in 2023-24 was third best in a single season in program history.

Freeman was the third Panther to enter the transfer portal in late March, joining previously-dismissed Markeith Browning II and Zach Howell. Guard Elijah Jamison began the transfer process earlier this week.

Milwaukee has received commitments from Queens University of Charlotte guard AJ McKee and Youngstown State forward (and Milwaukee native) John Lovelace Jr. Lundy previously coached McKee at Queens. Players are free to enter the transfer portal through Wednesday, May 1.
