SteveDaStoner performed his popular “free concert” for the second time at UWM on Friday. SteveDaStoner is a Milwaukee rapper, influencer and performer who has been in the Milwaukee rap scene for years and has recently taken his career to another level.
Steve started his signature “free concerts” over a year ago, with just a big JBL speaker, a microphone and a cameraman.
The “free concerts” have been performed at many places such as Walmart, Walgreens and even in the middle of a traffic jam. Steve started to post his “free concerts” on social media, which quickly gained popularity.
It’s A Blessing
UWM freshman Kaya Cooper sang a remix of Steve’s song “RWS” titled “It’s A Blessing” alongside Steve, and received $100 from him afterwards.
“Him performing that song for me was great,” said Cooper. “It was truly a blessing.”
Cooper didn’t expect to come away from the concert with $100.
“I just wanted to hear that song because that’s my favorite Steve song,” said Cooper. “But it shows that he really wants to give back to the community, and I really appreciate that.”
Victor Vazquez braved rainy weather and drove an hour from Fond du Lac to make it to his first “free concert.”
“It was raining and hard to see, but I came here because I really wanted to see him in concert,” said Vazquez. “He’s got a cool media influence and started a couple of dance trends that resonated with me.”
SteveDaStoner is not only known for his music but also for his innovative dances. He originated the “Uptown Downtown” dance, which many have tried to replicate.
“I like dancing myself, so he’s an inspiration to see him dance,” said Vazquez. “He’s cool, I like the Milwaukee style. It’s fun, energetic, upbeat music that really makes you feel good.”
Steve has featured on a Kai Cenat stream, who has over 17 million followers on Twitch and is known as one of the biggest influencers in the world.
Vazquez got to have his photo taken with Steve.
“He’s a really cool, genuine guy,” said Vazquez. “Definitely worth the drive.”
The concert is the second time he has performed at UWM. Last April, he held a free concert outside of the UWM Student Union between Bolton and Lubar halls.
“It brings people out and it brings positive energy,” said Cooper.

“Just because people talk about negative things in their music sometimes doesn’t mean they aren’t wanting to give back to the community,” said Cooper. “It destigmatizes the scene, and that’s what I really like about it.”
Steve has also shown up at events encouraging people to vote in elections.
“He has a positive impact on the community,” said Vazquez. “He’s making sure to interact with the community and spread a message. That’s something cool to see in today’s age.”
414BigFrank is another Milwaukee-based rapper, influencer and comedian who performed alongside Steve.
“It was awesome seeing how his crew interacts with the people,” said Vazquez.
