Today, May 20: Your Tuesday looks to be pretty soggy and cold. A low-pressure system starts to move through Central Illinois. This positioning of the low will bring some rain showers and gusty winds to our area. Rain will begin early in the morning and continue throughout the day with occasional breaks. As rain comes down, almost an inch of rain is expected throughout the day. Severe weather isn’t expected, but a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out. Winds will be gusty throughout the day, with sustained winds of 20 mph and gusts upwards of 40 mph coming out of the east or northeast. Temperatures will make it into the upper 40s at most.
Tonight: Rain will persist through the night, adding less than a quarter of an inch of rain to the total from the day. Winds will calm down a little, with sustained winds of 18 mph with gusts of 30 mph. Temperatures will fall into the low 40s.
Wednesday, May 21: The low-pressure system begins to move to the east as Wednesday goes on. As it does, the rain and wind will begin to subside. The rain will be light throughout the day, and winds will be up to 15 mph as the day wears on. Temperatures will warm up into the mid-50s during the day, and then fall into the low 40s overnight. The rain will finally quit overnight as the low fully moves out.

Extended Forecast, Thursday, May 22 – Saturday, May 24: Thursday looks to dry out a bit as the clouds finally clear out somewhat. Temperatures warm up into the mid-50s. There is a slight chance of rain during the afternoon, but it wouldn’t be more than a light sprinkle if something pops up. Friday looks very similar, but this time with temperatures in the upper 50s. There is another chance for rain, but it’ll be pretty low. Saturday looks like the nicest day we’ve had in a while. Temperatures will be in the mid-50s, but upper 50s aren’t out of the question as a fair amount of sunshine is expected.
