Today: Wednesday will be the start of a new weather pattern that will feature cooler temperatures and drier dew points. After a cold front slid through the state Tuesday night our winds turned northeasterly which will stay fairly calm all the way through Wednesday morning. This switch in the wind will set up for a comfortable rest of the week, however the aforementioned cold front will usher in some Canadian wildfire smoke which has prompted the Wisconsin DNR to issue an air quality advisory for all of Wisconsin until noon Thursday afternoon. Beyond that, winds will increase throughout the rest of your Wednesday gusting up to 20 mph by the afternoon. Furthermore, a stationary low pressure system will slide to the south of the Milwaukee area during the day on Wednesday. This system will cause a band of showers and isolated thunderstorms to roll through Milwaukee starting after 2 p.m. Temperatures will struggle to get into the low 70’s and dew points will slowly decrease Wednesday, knocking down into the low 60’s by late evening courtesy of the wind and rain moving through the Milwaukee area.
Overnight: Rain showers will continue overnight as the low pressure system slowly moves off to our east. Skies will stay partly to mostly cloudy overnight from the remnants of the low pressure system. Low temperatures will dip down in the mid 60’s and dew point will continue to fall as well down into the high 50s.
Tomorrow: Thursday is going to be your pick of the day if you like cool summer weather. Skies will clear out through the morning hour, however there’s a chance of an isolated shower in the morning. By early afternoon hazy sunshine will take hold with a northeast breeze off of Lake Michigan still gusting 10 to 15 mph. Highs will top around in the low 70s. Canadian wildfire smoke will be hanging around in the morning, but should clear out in the evening. Thursday night is turning out to be picture perfect with cool temperatures in the 60s and calm winds overnight.
Extended: Nice weather will continue all weekend, but we will be on a warming trend once again. Friday will feature mostly sunny skies with breezier winds out of the northeast and gusting about 10-15 mph. Throughout the day winds will ease to only about 5 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid 70’s. Friday night, winds will turn to more of a northerly direction and remain calm with lows possibly in high 50’s. Saturday and Sunday are almost identical, however Sunday will be just a little warmer with day time temperatures increasing into the high 70’s. Winds will stay from the north Saturday morning, but by the afternoon winds will turn back to the south again which could increase our dew points once again. Overnight lows for your weekend should hold in the mid to low 60’s. Finally, no precipitation is anticipated over the weekend so get out there and enjoy the sunny weather.
