Today: The 5-day Weather Forecast begins with another beautiful sunrise, but clouds quickly enter from the southwest. A low-pressure system in Minnesota shifts northeast, creating problematic gusty conditions for Wisconsin, especially for outdoor activities. Driving might be more of a chore on open roads, so please be attentive and safe when traveling! Southern winds sprint northwards, expected to average 12 mph with gusts of 33 mph. Even without the sun for most of the day, we will reach an unseasonably warm high of 82 degrees. Though we could complain, this is a welcome step back from Saturday’s almost record-breaking high temperature of 87, off by 1 degree from a record set in 1897.

Tonight: Winds calm into the night to 9 mph but still carry some warmth from the southwest. Clouds break with the onset of the night, but not immediately. These factors draw out the heat of the day through midnight and only allow a low of 66.

Tomorrow: Another clear-skied sunrise graces the early risers and morning commuters around 7 a.m. Although temperatures rise into the upper 70s, a cold front introduces itself to the area in the afternoon. This quickly drops temperatures into the 50s, sending us to a low of 53, while also dropping a considerable amount of rain. One might expect thunder, lightning, and storm local gusts of 25 mph. Otherwise, on a good note, winds slow to an average of 10 mph with gusts of 16 mph. If one has the rare chance to peek through the clouds on Monday night, the full moon will be shining brightly. Not only named the Harvest Moon, the Hunter Moon will also appear larger than normal, achieving the title Supermoon. This title is tacked on when a full moon is within some of its closest orbit distances from the Earth, thus appearing larger and brighter.

Tuesday: Some early morning commuters might see residual drizzles while the storm system finally exits. With low temperatures to start with on Tuesday and cloud cover most of this day, we only hit a high of 61. Winds slow to an average of 8 mph with gusts of 18 mph. Blowing off out of the northwest, cool breezes will characterize Tuesday as an average Wisconsin fall day. These conditions are thanks to the fair-weather high-pressure system sliding in from Wyoming and South Dakota. As clouds clear out by midnight, lows reach a chilly 52 by the lake and an even chillier 40s inland.

Extended: The high-pressure leaves to the northeast Wednesday night as a large low pressure from the northwest stretches south to mess with our weather. Wednesday’s gorgeous weather will be juxtaposed to a possible rainy Thursday. On Wednesday, Milwaukee sees nothing but sunshine, but clouds increase over Thursday with an increase in precipitation chances. Winds gently pick up each day, although Thursday possibly harbors an additional 24 mph gust here and there. With wind off the lake and from the south, temperatures become slightly warmer Wednesday, topping out at 63. Thursday raises the bar even higher to 65. Thankfully, lows still will reach through the 50s. Challenging the September low of 47, Wednesday plummets to 49. With no intentions of continuing this challenge, Thursday only grazes 54 before shooting back up.
