Café Hollander is excited to be back serving the patrons and visitors of Tosa village after seven weeks of closure and remodel caused by the severe storm flooding that hit the Milwaukee area earlier this year.

Ileana Rivera was excited to reopen Café Hollander’s Tosa Village location when I spoke with her at their Grand Reopening on Friday, September 26.

Café Hollander was established in Milwaukee’s Historic Downer Avenue district in 2007, styled by the lowlands region of Europe, inspired by Grand Cafes and their love of bicycling.

Since the opening of their first location, Café Hollander has brought their unique style and tastes of Belgian beers, mussels, and frites to Wauwatosa, Mequon, Madison and Brookfield.

Café Holland Tosa Village opened in 2009 and has been a staple hub in their downtown area.

From 2009 until now, Café Holland has grown and made it through the pandemic’s challenges while learning what the ideal layout and equipment for an effective kitchen needed to be to meet their growing customer needs.

Although unplanned and disastrous, Rivera explained how the flooding of their kitchen provided them with an opportunity to turn their Tosa Village kitchen into the perfect kitchen needed for the location.

The closure also allowed them the opportunity to remodel their bar area.

The positive outlook from the staff and customers resulted in an opportunity to make Café Hollander’s Tosa Village location exactly what it needed to be for years to come in the popular Tosa Village area.

Now reopened, Café Hollander Tosa Village is back and excited for the future, according to Rivera.
