Today: The 5-day Weather Forecast begins with drizzles and temperatures in the high 40s. By the afternoon, clouds break, allowing for a seasonably cool high of 55. A low-pressure system to the north moves northeast, shifting and increasing pressures in our region. Due to the presence of many different pressures in such a small area, this creates high winds. Average winds of 14 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are predicted for daytime. These winds can tip unsecured furniture and whisk away light objects, so be prepared.

Tonight: With the setting of the sun, clear skies and cooler temperatures enter from the north on a slower wind. Pushing the warm lake-influenced air away from Milwaukee, we drop to 40 for a low.

Tomorrow: Clear skies dominate the day, forcing temperatures to jump to 62. While winds relax to an average 10 mph thanks to a lull in pressure fluctuations, this does not last for long. In the evening, pressures in the area squeeze together another time to bring gusts of 36 mph. Pressures gathering in such a way is the main reason for the wind we see this week. Riding on the wind, clouds return in the evening with an increase in precipitation chances. One should not expect precipitation in the area until 10:00 pm, and constant rain until 1:00 a.m. The rain will not last too long and should leave over Lake Michigan before we reach a low of 47.

Also, winds predicted by Windy are within the 30s, shown by red and orange colors. If the wind is stronger, its color deepens to purple, and, if weaker, it lightens to green and light blue.

Tuesday: Battling overcast skies and cool winds, the sun raises Milwaukee’s temperatures only slightly to 51. Winds race through Southeastern Wisconsin to the tune of 12 mph, occasionally increasing to a gusty 33 mph. As the low pressure which caused Monday night’s rain attempts to exit toward Lake Superior, its progress slows, and its course corrects to leave toward New York. During the adjustment of its route, the rain rotates around and down to the Milwaukee area once again for a damp night. The clouds and lake keep our low temperature from dropping past 42 before Wednesday’s sunrise.

Extended Forecast: Looking to the middle of the week and beyond, high temperatures remain within the low 50s, considerably lower than average mid-October highs of 59. Low temperatures, however, continue to slide, with 36 on Wednesday and 34 on Thursday. Currently, Thursday night shows potential to induce a light frost, but this needs to be evaluated further to take any definitive action. On a better note, after winds spike on Wednesday, with averages of 15 mph and gusts hitting 35 mph, they calm Thursday to a more normal 11 mph with 22 mph gusts. Additionally, clouds decrease steadily into Thursday night to reveal a glorious sunset. Stay up to date with your forecasts to be knowledgeable about when the first frost hits!
