Today: Fall is finally kicking in for Milwaukee! We greet Tuesday morning with a glimpse of sun before a low-pressure system begins impacting our area. The system packs a punch, bringing strong winds and cold air from the north. By 9 a.m. we’ll feel the effects from this system with breezy winds gusting around 20 mph and temperatures in the mid 40s. As the day progresses, cloud cover will develop with winds growing stronger. The strong winds bring a cooler air mass from the north, preventing temperatures from breaking 50 degrees. Showers look to develop midday due to enough energy and moisture in the atmosphere, continuing through the evening with broken isolated showers in some areas at night.

Tonight: Showers look to continue through the evening before breaking into isolated pockets of rain for the night time hours and ending shortly after midnight. Strong winds continue into the overnight with gusts around 25-30 mph. As showers disrupt our night, temperatures fall around 42 degrees as a low for the day.

Tomorrow: We’ll get some dry hours early Wednesday as temperatures struggle to reach 50 degrees for a high. Some models suggest light, isolated showers over the Milwaukee area around the afternoon hours on Wednesday, though not looking too likely. Breezy winds continue to make an impact, with gusts around 25-30 mph at times. Temperatures look to be similar to Tuesday’s with a high reaching 48 degrees. Much of the day consists of cloudy skies, until the evening where we may see a glimpse of the moon. High pressure begins to nudge in Wednesday night causing the sight of a clearer sky as temperatures fall to a low of 40.

Extended: With high pressure nudging into the area, clearer skies and calmer winds return for our Thursday and Friday as temperatures begin to trend upward. Highs look to reach the low-to-mid 50s on both days. With clear skies overnight Thursday, and colder air filtering in, frost looks likely to develop for the first time this season. Low temperatures reach their closest to freezing, with a low of 36 expected for the day. Temperatures look to recover Friday with highs reaching 54 degrees. Winds look to shift south on Friday with an upper air disturbance aloft causing some cloud development overhead on Friday night. This disturbance could bring the possibility of returning showers for Saturday, though models are in disagreement for the track and development of this system. As the chance of rain lingers for Saturday, temperatures will continue to warm with highs reaching 56 degrees and lows falling below 50 overnight.
