Today: Monday will be another mild day for the end of November across the Milwaukee area. A strong dome of high pressure over the mid Atlantic states will keep the majority of Wisconsin dry for the beginning of the day however, by the afternoon high pressure will start to lose out to a low pressure system trailing a stationary boundary approaching Wisconsin from the west. Before this happens temperatures will rise through the upper 30’s and 40’s in the morning and reach the upper 40’s by the afternoon for a daytime high. Winds will be gusty from the southwest with sustained speeds between 10-15 mph and gusts could be around 25 mph in the morning with overcast conditions. Winds will look to ease by the afternoon, with sustained speeds decreasing to around 5-10 mph, but gusts could still be around 15 mph with mostly cloudy conditions continuing. Also by the early afternoon high pressure will start to lose out to a low pressure system trailing a stationary boundary approaching Wisconsin from the west. As this boundary cuts across Wisconsin a line of rain showers will accompany it. Rain showers will last from the mid afternoon (3 pm) into Tuesday morning. Rain chances will increase as the late afternoon and evening progress. It won’t rain the whole time, but off and on showers will be possible through the rest of the day Monday.
Overnight: Rain showers will continue on and off throughout the night with overcast conditions filling in between breaks in the rain. Temperatures won’t be able to cool much overnight despite the rain only making it into the mid 40’s. Winds will ease to around 5 mph with gusts up 15 mph form the southwest.
Tomorrow: Tuesday is going to be a transition day for weather in the Milwaukee area. This is made possible by a strengthening low pressure system (same low pressure system that brought the stationary front on Monday) trailing a cold front which will traverse across northern Wisconsin. Before this cold front moves through we’ll see overcast conditions as temperatures rise through the upper 30s and 40s in the morning before topping out in the low 50’s for daytime high and very calm winds with sustained speeds under 5mph through morning and afternoon. Skies will remain overcast in the evening with winds will increase slightly with sustained speeds between 5-10 mph and switching to the southwest for a short while before the cold front moves through. During the overnight hours the cold front will finally begin to move through. This front will bring along with it a slight chance for some light rain shower, although minimal accumulation is anticipated (less than 0.25 inches). I would also like to mention that on the back side of this low pressure system and the front that there is going to be some snow showers moving through Fond Du Lac and north which would stay to the north of the Milwaukee area. That being said temperatures will be crashing into the mid 30’s Tuesday night so, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few wet slow flakes mix in with the rain showers overnight. Lastly, winds will turn to the west overnight with increasing speeds between 10-15 mph and overcast conditions.
Extended: Wednesday we will start to feel some winter type air flood into the Milwaukee area. With a strong low-pressure system stationed in northern Wisconsin which will be moving to the east throughout the day Wednesday will cause temperatures and winds to be on a roller coaster. High temperatures in the mid 30’s will be hit earlier in the day before we start to feel the effects of the cold front that passed Tuesday night. Winds from the west will be very blustery through Wednesday ranging between 20-25 mph with gusts upwards of 30 mph with overcast conditions holding control of the skies for most of the day across the area. By the evening and into the overnight winds will stay elevated but turn more to the northwest and temperatures will plunge into the mid 20 for an overnight low with mostly cloudy conditions. By Thursday morning the low-pressure system that was overhead Wednesday will have moved farther off to the east, but will still be battling for control over Milwaukee’s weather with a high pressure system which will be slowly approaching from the south over the course of the day Thursday. With that being said, Thursday will start off partly cloudy with gusty winds still continuing from the northwest with sustained speeds still between 15-20 mph as temperatures climb through the upper 20’s before topping out in the low 30’s in the afternoon for a daytime high with skies becoming mostly sunny. Winds in the afternoon will stay constant, however by the evening winds will finally start to rest with sustained speeds decreasing to 10-15 mph. Into the overnight winds will continue to decrease to around 10 mph as temperatures slip down into the low 20’s for a night time low with clear conditions. Friday the aforementioned high pressure from the south will continue to move to the north and east as it works its way along the east coast. Since this high pressure system is strong it will have control over much of Wisconsin. Skies in the morning will start off mostly sunny with northwest winds sustained between 5-10 mph also, temperatures will warm through the 20s in the morning and top out in the low 30’s for the afternoon with skies becoming overcast quickly which is ahead of our next weather maker. Before this new weather maker arrives Friday evening skies will remain overcast which will hold into the overnight hours as well. Temperatures will crash into the low 20’s and may be even high teens for an overnight low with winds staying constant and out of the northwest. Please stay weather aware over your Thanksgiving break because a chance of accumulating snow exists Friday night into Saturday. Timing is still unclear, but the end of November and beginning of December look unsealed weather wise.
