Today: Winter is beginning to swing into Milwaukee! A surface high-pressure system will pass by our south today. Winds look to remain southerly through the day as weak low pressure entering from the west sweeps in by night time. We should manage to see breaks in the clouds at times today with highs expected to reach the lower to mid 20s, similar to yesterday.
Tonight: Clouds and moisture will return to area ahead of a strengthening surface low-pressure system. Winds look to pick up into the evening and overnight as this system builds in. Lows will be fall upper teens, but those lows will occur in the
evening and then gradually rise toward morning.
Tomorrow: As this system inches towards our area, light snow showers are likely to develop ahead of an accompanying cold front. Snow accumulations look to be around 0.5 – 1 inch with this brief system. High temperatures will occur while it’s snowing, reaching the lower 30s. Stronger winds will be in play throughout the day as winds shift from southwesterly to northwesterly behind the cold front Wednesday afternoon and evening. As the direction shifts, arctic air behind this front will bring low temperatures down to 10 degrees for Milwaukee, whereas the lake will keep areas near the shore a bit warmer.

Extended: Thursday is expected to be our coldest day of the week. Wind chill values early Thursday morning will be around 15-20 degrees below zero, which could prompt a Wind Chill Advisory. High pressure building in and the arctic air mass should allow for sunshine on Thursday and highs around 13 degrees. Our next snowfall system looks to arrive Friday afternoon, though this looks to be minor flurries. Temperatures will warm on Friday, with partly sunny skies and highs bouncing back to the 20s. More cloud cover develops for Saturday, with temperatures in the upper 20s. An upper air disturbance looks to develop for our Saturday, creating ingredients for another snowfall event if it hits Milwaukee. Models currently disagree on positioning of this system, where the system may track further south as days progress.
