Today: Monday will bring typical December weather across the Milwaukee area. Temperatures will climb through the mid and upper teens through the morning and top out in the low 20’s for a day time high with mostly cloudy skies with peaks of sunshine in the afternoon. Winds will really be rapid Monday morning, with sustained speeds between 15-20 and gusts close to 40 mph. Winds shift to the southwest with sustained speeds between 10-15 mph in the morning, however by the afternoon and into the evening winds should decrease to around 5-10 mph.

Overnight: The weak high pressure system that brought seasonable weather during the day will continue to sink to the south and east of the Milwaukee area. Temperatures will cool into the lower teens for an overnight low with winds remaining out of the south east with sustained speeds around 5 mph. Sky conditions should continue to clear overnight, but cloud up again by Tuesday morning.

Tomorrow: Tuesday will start a mid week warm up for the Milwaukee area. The high pressure system that brought us calm weather Monday and departed overnight will make way for a weak low pressure system that is traversing the U.S./Canadian border and trailing a cold front that will swing through Wisconsin overnight Tuesday. However, during the day Tuesday this new system will approach Wisconsin and the Milwaukee area from the west. With this in mind skies will be partly sunny throughout the day, but will cloud up heading in the late afternoon and evening as the approaching cold front gets closer. Temperatures will reach the mid 30’s for a daytime high and won’t decrease all that much Tuesday night, only cooling into the low 30’s for an overnight low. West winds in the afternoon speed up to sustained speeds between 10-15 mph, and will increase further heading into the evening with sustained speeds up to 20 mph, courtesy of the cold front.

Extended: Warm temperatures and calm conditions turn cold and unsettled by the end of this week. A weak high pressure system will keep temperatures slightly above average for Wednesday across Milwaukee, with sunshine filling out the sky in the morning and through the afternoon. We’ll see mid 30’s for a daytime high and only cooling into the low 30’s for an overnight low with clouds moving in. Unlike temperatures, winds will be ever changing throughout the day with 10-15 mph northwest winds in the morning but by the afternoon, turning more to the south-southeast, and decreasing in speed with 5-10 mph throughout the night. With this high pressure leaving us overnight another stronger weather maker will make its arrival. A strong low pressure system that will start out in northern Minnesota will move east on Thursday along northern Wisconsin and U.P. border, dragging multiple fronts across Wisconsin. With this in mind, Thursday is looking to be very unsettled for a multitude of reasons. Temperatures will take a landslide from daytime highs around 40℉ and low’s crashing in the in the upper single digits. Also, winds will predominantly be out of the west for most of the day but sustained speeds will be around 15-20 mph with overcast conditions dominating the skies due to this weather maker. A stationary front will create rain showers through Thursday, however by 7 P.M. a cold front will start to move through and the Milwaukee area could see a bit of mixed precipitation that changes to snow, with rough driving conditions expected. Finally, normal weather for December will return on Friday. High temperatures will only be able to reach the mid 20’s for daytime high with mostly sunny skies for the day. Winds may be a little elevated in the morning, with sustained speeds around 10-15 mph from the west, however by the afternoon wind will ease to around 5-10 mph.
