5 Things to Know About “My Brother, My Brother and Me”

Coming to the Turner Hall Ballroom this April is “My Brother, My Brother and Me,” an advice podcast for the modern era. Three real-life biological brothers Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy have cataloged around 240 hours of comedy riffs answering listeners’ questions. Here are five things you should know.

1. They don’t just answer serious questions.

The brothers generally accept two types of questions. There are the sometimes serious reader questions that have to do with ruff coworkers, breaking up long distance relationships, or even just figuring out what to eat for dinner. Then there are these other questions. Straight from Yahoo! Answers, these questions are just as absurd as the answers the brothers give.

2. They are huge Midwestern nerds.

Okay, so maybe one brother lives in California, one in Texas, and another in the brothers’ motherland, West Virginia. You may even be thinking, “West Virginia?! That’s not the Midwest!” and you might be right. What matters is that they understand the value of food on a stick and the sublime joys of Pokémon. Speaking of Pokémon…

 3. They do voices!

And not just Tim Curry! The brothers have an impressively weird and weirdly impressive range of impressions from Edward Snowden to miscellaneous fantasy creatures. With the exception of YouTube clips and live shows, this audio-only trio really milks the full range that radio allows.

4. They get weird.

I don’t even know what to say about this clip.

5. They get even weirder.

MBMBaM is never weirder than when they destroy a fond memory from childhood. The unconsidered or unnecessary sexual possibilities of say Animorphs, like in the clip below, are really the pinnacle of MBMBaM style riffing. Nothing is sacred. You’ve been warned, or enticed.
