The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime was recently shown at the Peck School of the Arts from April 30 to May 4. The play follows 15-year-old Christopher Boone, a mathematical genius who struggles to navigate everyday life and social interactions.

This play also gives viewers a glimpse into the mind of someone with Asperger’s syndrome, while portraying its unique challenges.

While Boone has never ventured out by himself, he takes on the challenge of discovering who murdered his neighbor’s dog Wellington.

In the process of figuring out who murdered Wellington, Boone uncovers unexpected details and truths about his parents and Wellington’s owners.

This play also gives viewers an idea of the struggles a person with Asperger’s may face such as navigating through big crowds, dealing with excessive noise, and regulating emotions.

Ultimately, Christopher does figure out who murdered Wellington, and he learns that he can achieve anything he wants despite societal perspectives about people like him.

After viewing this production, I will say that the Peck School of the Arts did a phenomenal job. The story plotline is extremely interesting and inspirational.
