Bronzeville Artwalk invites local artists of all ages and experience levels, both professional and amateur, to submit pieces for the 2026 Artwalk, which the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District sponsors.

The Artwalk is a community arts experience celebrating emerging, amateur and professional artists throughout Bronzeville Week, happening August 1-8, 2026.

Bronzeville Week is the City of Milwaukee’s annual celebration of African-American culture, history, art, commerce and entertainment.

“The Bronzeville Week Artwalk is always a fantastic display of the talent of local artists that live right in our community,” said Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs. “Submissions are now being accepted, and I would encourage all youth, adult, amateur and professional artists to submit their nominations for this year’s event.”

Submitting Artwork

There is no cost to submit and participate in the event, and an artist can submit up to three pieces for consideration. Painting, photography, mixed media, digital, sculpture, installation and performance are all acceptable artistic mediums to submit with.

All submissions are due by Sunday, July 26, 2026. Submissions will be accepted until that date, or until exhibition space reaches capacity.

Additional information and submission instructions can be found online HERE.

Through community partnerships and sponsorships, student participants are eligible for art supply support and scholarships.

This year’s theme is “Together We Dream,” and the artist is allowed to make their own creative interpretation of the theme. The submission form says this theme, “invites artists to explore vision, possibility, hope, imagination and the futures we are building together.”

“I believe the theme ‘Together We Dream’ offers an opportunity to create some moving pieces of art in all forms and interpretations,” said Alderwoman Coggs.

Art pieces chosen will be exhibited throughout Historic King Drive businesses and community spaces during Bronzeville week. Winners will be announced at the capstone gallery event on August 8.

Selected Artists Receive:

  • Public exhibition opportunities throughout Bronzeville Week
  • Promotion through Historic King Drive Business Improvement District marketing channels
  • Opportunities to connect with local businesses and community partners
  • The ability to sell work and build new audiences
  • Eligibility for artist awards, scholarships and creative support opportunities

To create additional engagement opportunities and visibility for artists, this year, some installations may remain on display beyond the official event dates.
