Through the CARES Act: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, the federal government has provided UWM with nearly $8.5 million through 2021.

The HEERF has grants available for students struggling to pay for food, tuition, housing, healthcare and childcare due to emergency expenses in relation to COVID-19.

Students who meet the qualifications must fill out the grant application no later than 8 a.m. on March 9, 2021.

Students qualify for the grant if they have had any emergency related expenses due to COVID-19 on or after Dec. 27, 2020; have been enrolled in a degree-seeking program for the 2021 Spring semester; and have filed a 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. FAFSA must be filled out to document that the student is a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

The Estimated Family Contribution calculated by the FAFSA, will determine which students demonstrate critical financial need. Those students will be prioritized in receiving grants.

  1. Due to the Coronavirus, my Mom who is my total financial supporter while I am attending the University of Oshkosh was unemployed for the entire year of 2020. I am seeking a Grant to help pay for my College tuition, living expenses, food, and books.
