“I Own You,” said Aaron Rodgers towards Bears fans after running in a touchdown at Soldier Field.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 24-14 in Week 6 Sunday. The win extended the Packers’ current win streak over the Bears to five games.

The Packers sit atop of the NFC North with a 5-1 record, two games ahead of the Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.

Week 6 Recap

The reigning MVP, Aaron Rodgers, completing 17 passes on 23 attempts with 195 yards and three total touchdowns; two passing and one rushing. Aaron Jones produced 76 rushing yards on 13 carries, 34 yards on four receptions and a touchdown. Also, Davante Adams compiled 89 yards on just four catches.

On defense, Kenny Clark had a good day, sacking Bears Quarterback Justin Fields twice. Dean Lowry and Jonathan Garvin also collected a sack. In addition, Darnell Savage picked off Fields for his first interception of the season.

Another positive note for the Packers was Crosby. After a horrid showing against the Cincinnati Bengals, Crosby made all four of his kicks in the game.

For the Bears, Fields had a subpar day under center, completing 16 passes on 27 attempts for 174 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Fields also rushed for 43 yards on six attempts. Bears third-string Running Back Khalil Herbert served as the starter, running for 97 yards on 19 attempts with one touchdown. In addition, Allen Robinson led the Bears in receiving with 53 yards on four catches.

For the defense, Robert Quinn, Khalil Mack, and Akiem Hicks had one sack each.

The Bears struck first, early in the game on a one-yard touchdown run from Herbert. Early in the second quarter, the Packers answered on a one-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Allen Lazard. The Packers then took the lead with a 39-yard field goal later in the quarter. The score would remain 10-7 in favor of the Packers going into halftime.

In the third quarter the Packers extended their lead on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Jones. However, the Bears would not go down without a fight. In the fourth quarter, Fields found Darnell Mooney for a five-yard touchdown. Ultimately, Rodgers took it upon himself late in the game and rushed for a six-yard touchdown to ice the game. That final touchdown by Rodgers gave the game it’s final score of 24-14 a Packers win.

Rodgers speaks to Bears Fans

After his rushing touchdown, Rodgers noticed multiple Bears fans expressing their feeling towards him giving him both middle fingers. This is when he uttered these now famous words.

“I’ve owned you all my f—ing life! I own you! I still own you!”

Whether or not you agree with his choice of words it’s hard to argue with Rodgers’ statement. The stats don’t lie, and the stats show that Rodgers, does in fact, own the Bears.

In 26 career starts versus the Bears, Rodgers is 21-5. He has thrown over 6,000 yards, 57 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in those 26 games. Rodgers has a career passer rating of 107.7 against the Bears. To put those numbers in perspective, Hall of Fame Quarterback Brett Favre has thrown for over 8,000 yards, 60 touchdowns and 42 interceptions against the Bears. Favre’s career passer rating against the Bears is 85.6 in 36 games. Rodgers is playing at a more efficient and better rate against the Bears than Favre did.

Postgame Response

Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy expressed his feelings in the postgame press conference.

“This hurts,” Nagy said. “It stings. It’s not fun. Our guys understand that.”

Fields had some words of his own too.

“I just didn’t play how I needed to play for us to get the win,” said Fields. “Again, I just need to be better.”

The win, as always, did not come without controversy. On the Savage interception, it looked like the Packers jumped offsides. On a key turnover, a missed call will always be pointed out as fans and players wonder, “what if?”

Once again, the injury bug bit the Packers. Rookie center Josh Myers was helped off the field after the opening possession and did not return.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a season ender,” Head Coach Matt LaFleur said postgame. “But we’ll continue to look at it.”

In addition, Savage left the game early in the third quarter with a concussion.

“I think it shows we will be OK,” Jones said, “It shows we can win games in multiple ways. We have the leaders we need.”

Packers fans can find comfort in Jones’ words, showing that even without key players the Packers can continue to win. They won their last five games without having key starters.

On the other hand, Elgton Jenkins returned after missing three games and David Bakhtiari is expected back in Week 7, along with Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Those two will give the Packers a big boost in terms of pass protection and big-play ability. The surging Packers will look to extend their winning streak against the struggling Washington Football Team that are 2-6 on the season.

One last bit of good news for Packers fans. When explaining his “I own you” comments and asked the probability of this being his last game at Soldier Field in a Packers uniform, Rodgers said, “I don’t think this was my last one.”
