Prior to the start of the NFL season, Devin Funchess, wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers was the only Packer player to opt out of the 2020 season due to Covid-19 concerns.

Funchess agreed to a 1-year deal with the Packers after spending the first four years of his career in Carolina and another year in Indianapolis.

The Packers added the 6’4” receiver in hopes that he would make an immediate impact in a short-handed wide receiving core.

With Funchess opting out going into the first week of the season, the receiving core once again looked shaky on paper.

In the week 1 duel with the Minnesota Vikings, the trio of Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling went off, combining for 22 receptions, 315 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The young receivers for the Packers stepped up and made plays despite being down Funchess and will look to continue their success next Sunday when they return home to play against the Detroit Lions.
